Overview

The semi-precious gemstones of my gemstone jewelry designs are created from the precious minerals formed within our earth. These naturally occurring minerals are present in the rocks of the mountains, sand of the beach, and soil of the ground.

There are over 3500 minerals that are recognized, and I have designed handmade jewelry from some of the most beautiful and unique of these minerals. Gemstones each have their own unique properties including color, texture, and hardness, to name a few. Every person seems to be drawn to particular gemstone for a specific reason.

My love for gemstones should be obvious in that I love to design and make gemstone jewelry. My handmade jewelry designs are created for that unique person who is drawn to the beauty of natural gemstones. I want to be able to take a particular gemstone and design a piece of jewelry that a person feels a connection. That being said, when designing new gemstone jewelry, I also feel a connection with certain jewelry pieces. Those pieces are most often the pieces that I end up wearing. I hope that you will find a gemstone design that you are drawn to and feel a connection with as well.

About Me

Hi I am Danielle. I am writing this, feeling like I am writing an autobiography or something, but I wanted to tell you a little about myself.

I was born and raised in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, where I lived until I attended college at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. There I received a BS degree in a subject that I totally love, geology. I guess that is how I became interested in gemstones. Although I have to admit, I have learned more about the minerals of this earth since I started designing gemstone jewelry.

After completion of my geology degree, I moved to Northwest Arkansas, where I enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Ozark Mountains. My parents still live in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, but now they have somewhere to go on vacation and visit me at the same time.

Upon moving to Arkansas in 2002, I took my gemstone jewelry business to the world wide web. I display my jewelry designs on two websites - DanielleCreations.com and GemstoneJewelryBYDanielle.com. Running two websites keeps me busy, as I am constantly designing and adding new jewelry designs to keep the websites fresh and interesting.

In addition to my websites, I have exhibited in the past at the Ole Applegate Craft Fair in Bentonville, Arkansas. I love selling my jewelry at the craft fairs, and I love meeting the people who come from all over to enjoy this event.

Most recently, my jewelry designs are displayed at the Ellen Hobgood Gallery in Heber Springs, Arkansas. I am proud to be the jewelry artist at her location and it has been a great experience. You can also find the gallery at EllenHobgoodGallery.com.

Other than designing jewelry, I love spending time with my husband, Ashley, and our pets - three dogs: Amber (yellow lab/hound mix), Bear (Australian Shepherd) and Maxx (Weimaraner); and our six cats: Ryan; Jasper, Jeb, Skid Mark, Blue Streak, and Spencer. I have a tremendous love for animals, and they will always be a very important part of my life.

I also enjoy digital photography. I take all pictures needed for my website, but I find great joy in taking landscape and scenery pictures. I have a few of my pictures exhibited at DanielleRossPhotography.com. Recently I received a "FINALIST" award for one of my photos, which I am very EXCITED to have gotten my first of this kind of recognition. Hopefully there will be more to come!

If you haven't noticed, there are so many people making and selling jewelry. And though some of us seem to have the same goal of making quality jewelry that a customer would be proud to wear, I have noticed that no two jewelry designers have the same jewelry design taste. We each have our own unique style and sometimes we even learn from one another. I find great enjoyment from designing gemstone jewelry. And I have to admit, it is the greatest high to have someone want to wear my jewelry, other than myself, my Mother and my Mother-in-Law. I will continue to make new gemstone jewelry designs as long as this earth will create the minerals that form these beautiful semi-precious gemstones.

Lastly, I enjoy staying in shape by jogging, mountain biking, and lifting weights. I also love to work in my flower beds - I have quite a few rose bushes that keep my home full of roses during the blooming season.
