Although amber is not a semi-precious gemstone, it is a very
beautiful substance. Amber is actually a fossil resin formed from
coniferous trees (cone bearing trees). This resin is usually a transparent,
yellowish-brown, hardened substance which takes a polish. This resin can
contain insects and other organisms and is considered much more valuable if they are present.
Amber is found in alluvial
soils (soils deposited by a stream or running water) and lignite beds (bed of
brownish-black coal). Additionally, amber can be found on some seashores
especially of the Baltic Sea. But you can also find amber in the
