The semi-precious lapis gemstones of my lapis gemstone
jewelry, also known as lapis lazuli, are created from the
precious minerals formed within our earth. This naturally occurring mineral
is composed primarily of lazurite, calcite, and pyrite minerals. Lapis
lazuli (or just lapis) has a rich blue color, sometimes called denim
lapis or just blue lapis, depending on the shade of blue color.
The finest lapis comes from Badakshan in Afghanistan. Lapis
of lesser value comes from Russia and Chile. Lapis is rare in North
American but has been found in the Sawatch Mountains of Colorado and the San
Bernadino Mountains in California. But you can also find lapis gemstones
in the handmade, lapis jewelry of Danielle's Creations.
